CFTC, SEC Extend Compliance Date for Form PF Amendments

The CFTC and the SEC extended the compliance date for the 2024 Form PF amendments from October 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027.

In a joint final rule, the CFTC and the SEC delayed the compliance date to allow filers to avoid costs associated with implementing amendments that the agencies proposed to revise or eliminate in April 2026 (see prior coverage). The extension gives the Commissions time to fully consider comments on the April 20 proposal.

Form PF is the confidential reporting form used by certain SEC-registered investment advisers to private funds, including those also registered with the CFTC as commodity pool operators or commodity trading advisers.

SEC Chair Paul Atkins supported the extension. He called a short extension practical and necessary, given the importance and technical nature of the information collection effort.

The Alternative Investment Management Association said the extension was widely anticipated and that the July 2027 date signals that work on the new requirements is expected to be finalized before the end of June 2027.
