Polymarket to List Treasury Statistic Event Contract
QCX LLC, which does business as Polymarket US, self-certified an event contract tied to U.S. Treasury statistics with the CFTC and said it would list the product no earlier than September 30, 2026.
The designated contract market filed the U.S. Treasury Statistic Contracts under CFTC Rule 40.2(a) ("Listing products for trading by certification"). It filed the product as a single, specific event contract, not as a Broad Template Certification, consistent with CFTC Letter No. 26-22. In that advisory, the Division of Market Oversight told exchanges that Broad Template Certifications bundling contract permutations with differing settlement sources or methodologies should not be submitted under Rule 40.2(a). It said a series of closely related contracts may instead be submitted together under Rule 40.2(d) or Rule 40.3 ("Voluntary submission of new products for Commission review and approval").
The exchange said it planned to use this contract as the referenced contract for a later class certification of swaps under Rule 40.2(d). CFTC Letter No. 26-22 says a class filing of that kind must reference a prior, specific contract with identical pricing sources and methodologies.
The filing included the contract's terms and conditions and an analysis of compliance with the Commodity Exchange Act, the core principles for designated contract markets, and CFTC regulations. The exchange sought confidential treatment for the analysis under Rule 145.9 ("Petition for confidential treatment of information submitted to the Commission"). It certified compliance, said it knew of no substantive opposing views, and said it posted the filing on its website. Nick Rice, Head of Markets, signed the letter.
