CFTC Committee to Discuss Crypto, AI, and Prediction Markets

The CFTC scheduled the inaugural meeting of its Innovation Advisory Committee for August 20, 2026, featuring three sessions expected to cover the following topics:

  • Session I: crypto asset regulation, including state licensing regimes, the absence of a federal market structure framework, and modernizing rules under current statutory authority;
  • Session II: AI in trading, compliance, surveillance, and risk management, including autonomous "agentic finance" tools and whether existing principles cover AI-enabled participants; and
  • Session III: event contracts, federal and state authority, and recent prediction market litigation.

This meeting will be streamed live on CFTC.gov.
