The IRS reminded taxpayers who have one or more bank or financial accounts located outside of the United States, or taxpayers who have signature authority over such accounts, that they might be required to file an FBAR by June 30, 2016.

House Representative Michael M. Honda (D-CA) introduced the Energy Storage for Grid Resilience and Modernization Act of 2016, which would amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide energy investment credits for energy storage properties connected to the grid.

The SEC requested comments on Amendment No. 3 and approved the proposed FINRA rule change, as modified by Amendment Nos. 1, 2 and 3, to adopt margin requirements for "to-be-announced" transactions and other forward-settling agency securities transactions on an accelerated basis. The request for comments was published in the Federal Register.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Court rejected a challenge to SEC Regulation A+ by Montana and Massachusetts regulatory authorities.

The SEC approved Investor Exchange LLC's amended application to register as a national securities exchange. In light of the unique features of the new exchange, the SEC updated its interpretation requiring trading centers to "honor" automated securities prices that are subject to small delays when accessed.
